Rigid materials
2016-21
After several years of research and development, followed by scaling up to industrial processes in the laboratory, we produced 100% seaweed panels. To validate the assembly techniques, the panels were shaped using digital tools and more traditional techniques. These formal experiments mean that we can now look to a wide range of applications, such as furniture, fittings and scenography, to offer a concrete alternative to particleboard. As well as being biodegradable, the various species of algae provide an almost infinite range of aesthetic options.
